What a nice idea!
May I ask where you are now?{:5_362:} 3# 吃花生的大灰狼

Terrific! Do you guys watch CNN? Maybe we could get it started by discussing about current news everyday. Now it's all about the disputed Iranian general election. So many Iranians are going out on the streets parading, demonstration and protesting. I'm amazed that Iranians even enjoy better democracy than we do. At least we Chinese wouldn't be allowed to show our discontent towards our leaders publically. And election in China would never ever happen... By the way, I saw Obama on a TV speech several times. Why do I have the feeling that he didn't fit his eloquent image at all? Especially when he was interviewed, he was always struggling with words and spoke at a fairly low speed. denmonstrating rather than "demonstration" here?
BTW. I don"t like watching CNN (not because I am one of those anti-CNN guys).
I watch BBC and read BBC news online regularly. I do think BBC is more genuine.
P.S. are you now making it a chatting roomhere? {:5_338:}

Thanks for your correction. Seems I was really negligent to make such a simple mistake. See, if you don't practise writing a lot, tiny mistakes would arise everywhere in your articles. To make it a chatting room is also a good idea. Anyway, as long as it drives you todo some writing practice, any form is worth a shot. 本帖最后由 PimmsL.D.N. 于 2009-6-17 13:46 编辑

Seeing the briefing in your post, I am curious how you started learning German as a graduate specialised in English. It's really a good idea, i would like to join in.My English level is much lower than yours. But I believe I will get improve with my persistence and I really appericiate your helping me. 8# michaellord110
Yes, you are right. And I think the point is that he does not have any good strategies or plan to make everything ture which he promisses the US people. So he is just traveling around the world and make friends. For sure the contries which he visied are important. But so often, for exsample how many times he was in Germany? Anyway, we cann't see any progress in economic crisis or in other problems in the US. Maybe it is really a very hard job? 6# PimmsL.D.N.
oh yeah, should be "learn". Forgot the "a" here. 3# 吃花生的大灰狼

Maybe as I have some gifts in foreign language learning, I'm always very interested in learning new languages. I really enjoyed the process since I could learn must faster than others from the beginning.{:5_388:} And at that time, I was deeply impressed by the so-called high-quality german education, as one of my father's collegues who used to study in Germany kept instilling such information into my mind.

I have noticed it too. He is not that guy like Clinton, though they are both lawers. You can see the wisdom from Clinton's eyes. Maybe Obama is"too young, too naive", kind of

You're warmly welcome. It doesn't matter which level you are at, just get down to practice.
P.s. I didn't quite catch the meaning of this sentence: "I will get improve with my persistence". Maybe you'd like to say: "I would grow more persevering" or " I would get to enhance my will power" 本帖最后由 吃花生的大灰狼 于 2009-6-17 17:19 编辑
Do you guys know any websites with bilinguistic translations, i.e., one article with both English and German scripts?
I personally do believe that reading in both languages with comparison is an efficient way to master them at the same time.
What's more, translation from German into English or vise versa, could be beneficial. 8# michaellord110

BTW, do you guys mind if I point out some of your grammer mistakes or better your way of expression? e.g.there are several petty problems in your reply. Of course it won't affect one's understanding, and generally your point is clearly made. Maybe Obama just needs to accumulate more experience during his early administration. Anyway he is a very samrt and prospective guy, or else he wouldn't have been elected as the US president. He would grow as time goes by.

Nobody would mind if you point out the grammar misusage here. Keep in mind, we aim at practicing and improve our English.
I personally appreciate that others correct my words. I am curious how you guys master several foreign languages.
For me, it is really tough to learn and speak English and German simultaneously. I always learn one and forget the other.:curse: I'd like to summerize what I learned from CNN yesterday.
Iran was divided by the controversial general election. Iranian President Ahmadinejad was occused of manipulating the calculation of votes and cheating during the election. Tens of thousands of people in support of the opposition candidate went out demonstrating, demanding the votes to be recounted or even the election to be held once again. At the same time the newly elected president's proponents have also gathered together. Luckily enough those two huge throngs didn't come across, so significant collisions didn't break out. However, violence did arise during the rally. Allegedly some plainclothes instructed by iranian authorities had shot into the crowd and caused death of dozens of people.
As foreign media reported those bloody and brutal scenes, Iran has banned all foreign journalists from covering the post-election rally and all news outlets have been clamped down. Even access to internetcommunication tools have been denied. However, Iranians could always find ways to bypass this internet ban. Hi, buddy!
I propose we do some translations. For example, we may translate a text from German into English.
What do you guys think of? I'd like to summerize what I learned from CNN yesterday.

{:5_394:} Bric summit was held in Russia. The word 'Bric' derives from the initial letters of the names of its four participant countries: Brazil, Russia, China and India. As it is very similar to the English word "Brick", this summit is also called the golden brick conference. These four countries, boasting of one quater of the world's population and 15% of the global GDP, are four most important rising economic entities. The purpose of this conference is believed to pursue bigger says for developing countries in world's political and economical affairs. Although there're considerable differences in political regimes, costums and traditions, histary, cluture and ethnics among the four coutries, this summit is supposed to play more and more important roles in the futer.
