A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!!

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, ; O& q' s" y8 F9 ]

I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. 6 b( N3 n0 X# }7 k% R  \
9 ~- f" [3 e" r# w% f; |5 ]1 k
His name was Kyle. 1 f7 _( d5 k) H3 h  U  w

) @5 Z/ {6 t# P  P6 A, {. S. l& i4 k+ L# _7 ?* P
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
* Y% u& Y+ G" D9 ~
' m8 x7 C& O( v7 _2 `4 z' `0 N* l1 ^0 I# U+ M
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? , W' X( d% Z5 I3 K: L( k, f
6 X# m! ~% t% F. ?3 n
He must really be a nerd."
+ f% K4 i/ _3 ^# |9 Y
  w% {: `. U/ D
) r4 M; G; g1 T3 i, @I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. , a" {9 x- I' C" \9 s6 q
( T0 n, Q3 |% k) {

9 u0 |/ u8 v- h2 j( q. tAs I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
) a/ @5 }1 G6 Q+ v4 ]  z  v7 Z0 V. w( ]- v$ u" N

+ P) e# d: G) l% n$ EThey ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. . h  c/ E# f6 Q

0 l- z( P$ O0 p5 E; N1 ?, `
0 s- ^6 k& {, NHis glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. 1 p: m) P  ?) U7 R: D

- l- [9 L# k9 I% t$ r* U5 K  G* E' z7 g4 Z' J' D' T
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
8 j+ F6 d, e- U; C/ v% t5 Y& k; }- P( k1 ^

+ r  Y: C* S3 w5 V, \# h$ T& p5 LMy heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. & z$ v1 R8 V" t7 s' y; c

  N9 P( y# P  _6 q6 Z
( }4 f/ _5 L/ R5 u+ l4 bAs I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
/ w% I5 B$ @/ h' T: K" i. {' R9 l
, k: L# B" t9 w& _* @' m# E8 Z( k' `) N2 J4 M! ]
They really should get lives
$ V# t+ k- s4 D+ H
3 V7 ~& H/ U6 x4 d( J" a$ ~) \5 c! \5 u6 M# O  h
" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
5 ~" M, E) ?8 [% V1 {( ]9 D# Q
# d& A" O$ R( G. |9 B  J2 T2 M- ^
8 F' ^$ W! a( Y8 u4 |7 a/ J3 BThere was a big smile on his face. 0 T5 Z+ P0 Y+ U; _+ i) B

8 o" E# l4 E/ v0 e5 D" M: C/ |% h7 {- V8 }
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. . t. V3 H+ T2 I" m

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived
6 A( U" A/ Q6 c7 a* v

7 \8 X) N1 _( _+ I1 ]+ O3 [As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
( s* ?+ o. h4 G6 Z' K/ w% b
0 l7 w4 x4 B! i/ z! [He said he had gone to private school before now. ( {' U  x5 B2 K( p7 D

* o) Z$ Y9 i( t- q$ HI would have never hung out with a private school kid before. - A; h- Y; K) C( @# T0 D# g; g

. _+ J% w1 e. i1 x1 Y& {0 A( {We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
4 s* i0 Z, N3 M2 g: A. q, o. w; y$ |5 O0 v7 G

# z9 u9 m( a2 n" ?7 Y. {! hHe turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
" p1 C& B! [! U* D3 D
: A) G$ w1 t8 }" b9 Q; O7 v
3 q) f3 K! O* @/ D$ U3 I/ s  `/ PI asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
9 A) V. X3 K) v& V/ {- v: A
/ h  x% S- X, _; j$ B. THe said yes.
( w* m* j  M% Q  y+ Q( }
9 q7 G! U# h# Q0 O7 v" Q! n$ D6 `+ y
  c* |; Y3 p4 I1 J& u* \We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. ( U  E* N5 l! _) d3 k) k% ~4 W4 G

3 m+ o. {5 {* _* Z
5 U( R5 Q6 y; OMonday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
5 `8 w& p; }7 a2 }% E& B% ^) b. k) z% M. z  O
I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
0 e. g; o4 e$ c
/ i& H* s7 i6 v7 w( Z
$ e; Q1 j; e6 ~"He just laughed and handed me half the books.
1 m. ~5 `+ v3 p9 ^. ]" M5 l" m6 K# q) J" `* H8 M
/ Q! w+ ]' W/ c5 ~5 R7 \: J% G
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. # O) j8 ]! a( |* n# {

/ L$ t5 h% a2 a8 a( O. z% f' I3 V/ I/ f/ l( M4 ]
When we were seniors, we began to think about college.
7 ]8 h* {/ ?) Y$ x  l7 H) Y, F  F. F5 L$ I' }
# X! P/ t! b1 E2 K: [
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I
) [- h" Z* {1 twas going to Duke.
/ @; o+ I0 S) _* G
3 U5 s( O* n1 Q& P8 x8 u
3 N* r. Q/ a& CI knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
( L. {& R4 X; x7 D8 e& o# g! s3 z- L% ]& b
% |2 f0 T/ r; @0 H; E
He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
) m- G# k; v; I; @# D% \7 a7 f8 E9 }8 I) x
$ `/ P& Z3 H' ?+ ^" c6 b1 m1 c8 K' [

* y; b6 {0 e/ L: l0 h% v; i- S. v. s% l" L
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
7 ^8 v" O# a6 K9 i; v
- `) T' p' C" @- ^! ]I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
& T4 \" ~' a- q$ H3 @- J5 T' V* D- L# Q4 w; T! F( X

" s6 [6 h  R! t: LHe had to prepare a speech for graduation.

$ p+ E" f" @) Z* c+ Z4 G' m1 y3 x+ r# ]. L# g; H4 t& `4 o
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak 2 l* e# @) v1 Y2 {) ^! m; h

* v3 g, J) a. q$ c/ |: ~  B9 d+ _! Z$ R! e
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
/ |  B! ]" s/ h2 t& }2 ?3 C1 G. ?) S2 l# T; w2 L% [# n

( C, C+ N, {# \4 }" E5 q9 hHe looked great.
& x' I1 L* d! D8 w9 W) e  W+ k. n5 l
1 q6 _, _8 z1 c8 x5 X
. r: e1 s; b' t+ p7 E; t* `$ H! D! `$ |He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. % u& g, R$ |1 R% Y; u% M

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
# X  {( }1 q, _/ X3 T# z, S' @3 N$ e4 b
1 m  E' Z! n1 @
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
( C# ?# g+ y2 B8 C; ]/ Z6 B3 d* l" n. k/ L. X0 M

( F5 r3 d+ w) u+ U4 eBoy, sometimes I was jealous.
  |& {! U' V; D. l3 _) h; @, ]0 Z/ e" s1 B2 y' _. S

, g. a1 Y) C1 {Today was one of those days. : n1 O. ?" m, x, A( s0 T
8 N+ E* P# G) u2 F$ O4 p

% k2 u: ~3 |: N3 h( r. t1 R) t  P" PI could see that he was nervous about his speech.
, ]4 E- x; z" u5 K4 C$ {, k. K( S
1 q7 y4 S# h5 ?
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

! \" M- L; Y9 g& T: r6 Z% }4 t( l  q  s9 y& e$ Y) O
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. $ Z5 K& D! ]  t- d- a; v

& k6 A' u5 }0 J, H8 g: ^
* }" r  ]. z" ~8 v3 d! L( Z# P& b
+ M# b, {4 B$ [! j1 q8 H7 H"Thanks," he said.
+ z9 B, L( ~# }* F0 E. D4 u- x+ J  l9 t* Y

. W* g1 N" J2 ?4 M. e$ X/ f/ ]3 |6 Q
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
8 P* T' m3 [/ `" o  A$ z# C
+ N! n5 c1 o# I" l& H$ A
# i, s8 ]+ l. F8 }1 X4 p  x! B2 e8 d9 Z- ]+ ~
  l. C; Y) B2 G& ?/ @
"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. 4 S6 n4 a* n% I4 m* J
& v# j2 r" @5 P
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends...
& K6 A; @; |4 n4 j( {. @; C; M3 ^1 w! N* O$ S1 V0 i
3 `/ K7 n: T9 u) @
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
& P( Q& Z: v2 x5 `
# O; D9 ^" u6 f' P. m7 ~/ [, c7 `2 N" C, N7 d9 o# B$ C
I am going to tell you a story." ' i5 l. q* C+ P
) i0 H  ^! T' x: @) ~, K2 B

6 P$ w$ B: P& ?1 h/ w9 W7 ]I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.
$ P" Q# }4 O9 X) I4 M: y8 [6 Y( C% Z6 g( }% w1 s5 g7 T( i
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
% J' v; B, }' ]( c5 o2 h
! J7 `" F( y" E( A. G& Q/ M4 C- B2 |, P7 z- i) W* Z
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. 9 T( a. Q0 T' [* u. A; X, P6 F* z! `

5 P6 r" }* `- ~) O+ x2 y
! k8 T% `; G, g4 Y; U; q! zHe looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. + b5 c% Z  U* v5 m: b

& ?% d! N) ^% h, \+ }"Thankfully, I was saved. ' o, b; H) O/ Q8 [) F; u# C5 Z
& O- J3 q1 V( C; P* K- t/ R

. g8 c! N9 ]9 g: ?3 ~
9 o; d5 h3 H, w- }6 _0 d3 W9 C& dMy friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
4 i5 i: R7 V( x' g1 h3 N/ E- M( t! l/ H
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
5 |3 |+ e/ @0 i' N* I+ Q1 z- k* K# p: z7 L* r) l7 m2 q9 g) \
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
9 S# f5 c3 f% i: l5 L' A4 k
5 f# \% y+ e5 D  z6 s, `Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
+ O7 E& D9 Z- b7 n& `! K) ^) f0 N8 U' v: x4 r
Never underestimate the power of your actions.
5 M7 j+ c! o" I# z4 @9 h1 N8 O9 P8 E+ k# m2 j. E/ ^* m( A/ B
With one small gesture you can change a person's life. 7 f2 _6 J4 D4 z+ K4 f, n3 q
& d2 l  I- y+ x+ Z9 x  A, k
For better or for worse. 6 ?1 B4 t& ~9 A0 t6 H9 ]

. o. `3 k, q' j5 C. `God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way.   ?9 M+ i. [+ U: q+ n6 i& v$ B
$ Y  d3 q( F+ V- ]0 `: u! w2 R% E
Look for God in others.

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me...
