We refer to our letter from January 2017 requesting certain necessary information regarding your tax status in accordance with the so-called Common Reporting Standard(CRS) based on a Self Certification form.
Unfortunately, we have not yet received the required documents.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) developed a global standard for the automatic exchange of financial account information in tax matters - the Common Reporting Standard(CRS).
More than 50 countries, including the Federal Republic of Germany, have introduced the CRS as of 1 January 2016. Overall more than 100 countries have publically committed to implementation of the CRS in the near term.
According to the CRS, all Financial Institutions are obliged to collect and assess specific financial account information and transmit reportable data to national tax authorities, who will then in turn exchange that information with tax authorities in other CRS jurisdictions on an annual basis.
As a result, Deutsche Bank is required to report all relevant account holder and financial acount information on persons with foreign tax residencies to the German Federal Central Tax Office(Bundesyentralamt für Steuern, BZSt) beginning in 2017. The information to be reported includes, for example, the name, address, Taxpayer Idenifiation Number or equivalent(TIN), account number, aggregated account balance or value as well as the total gross amount of income and gross amount of imcome and gross proceeds as of the end of the relevant calendar year.
in our systems currently available data about you as an account holder - such as a foreign residence and/or postal address, a foreign phone number or an effective power of attorney or signatory authority for a foreign person - indicate a potential tax residency outside of Germany.
Therefore we kindly ask you to complete the attached Self Certification form and return a signed version in addition to documentary evidence, with confirm your claimed tax residencies, back to us per mail or by handing in at the closest branch of our bank, in order for us to amend or update your client data accordingly.
If you do not provide a completed and signed Self Certification form and documentary evidence confirming your claims on tax residencies within seven weeks, we will be required by local law to report on certain foreign tax residencies assessed under the above mentioned criteria to the BZSt.
In cases of doubt, please consult your tax advisor or local tax authority to assess or determine your individual tax residencies. As a bank we are not permitted to provide tax advice. For further information about the process or questions about the form itself, please do not hesitate to contact us.
In the event that you have already sent us the outstanding documents, please disregard thi correspondence.
