What is the Consulting Fellowship Program?
The Consulting Fellowship Program equips Thailand’s future leaders with the necessary skills for a successful career in consulting or business. Our Bangkok office developed the program specifically for Thailand and ran it for the first time in 2008 and 2009. Comments from participants can be found here.
The program's components – consulting, workshops, events, and mentorship – are organized by McKinsey consultants exclusively for participants. From August until June, consulting fellows meet monthly for workshops or events.
Consulting fellows receive a certificate upon completion of the program.
Consulting – Participants have the opportunity to experience consulting by working through actual business cases. We invite consulting fellows to play the role of a consultant and advise a fictitious client on key business and strategic issues, letting them experience advanced problem solving and improve their story-lining and presentation skills.
Workshops – Capability building workshops are based on our extensive experience in management coaching and include topics such as:
* Advanced problem solving
* Understanding personality types
* Dealing with conflict
* Influencing techniques
* Time management and work planning
* Operations improvement and lean manufacturing
Events – Networking is an important component for most undergraduates, and we host a variety of events so that consulting fellows can get to know one another, but also meet senior consultants and alumni of McKinsey & Company and build their own personal networks.
Mentorship – A McKinsey consultant is assigned to each consulting fellow to mentor and coach him or her through their critical last year of university and planning their career.
Mentors advise consulting fellows in areas such as writing CVs, managing the application process, using best practices to secure and succeed at job interviews, and creating a personal development path.
